Learn About Connections Florida Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program

The Connections of Florida virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP) is an all-inclusive, evidence-based primary substance use disorder program that meets the unique needs of individuals who are struggling with addiction concerns. The program is offered through a secure online platform, allowing people to receive the care they need without leaving home.

Who We Serve

The Connections of Florida virtual IOP provides comprehensive care for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with substance use disorders or are suffering from co-occurring addiction and mental health concerns.

The virtual IOP is ideal for patients who do not need the round-the-clock care offered in residential or inpatient treatment settings but can benefit from more frequent, structured care than is offered in traditional outpatient therapy.

Patients can step down to the virtual IOP from a higher level of care, or they may enter the program directly as the first step on their recovery journey.

What To Expect

In the virtual IOP, clinicians provide targeted motivational interviewing (MI) techniques as well as SMART Recovery, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) interventions, which are aimed at helping individuals build tangible skills to manage their symptoms.

Patients follow a seven-week curriculum, which consists of group therapy sessions that include discussions on a variety of topics. They also receive education on multiple areas of addiction and mental health and have the opportunity to develop and practice skills for healthy functioning outside of treatment.

If someone stays in the program longer than seven weeks, it is appropriate for them to repeat the curriculum. This can be extremely beneficial because the goal is to help patients have a solid understanding of what they have learned so that they feel confident that they can apply it in their daily lives long after their time in the virtual IOP has ended.

Measurement-Based Care

All aspects of the care we provide in the virtual IOP are designed to help patients achieve the best treatment outcomes possible, which is why we place a heavy focus on measurement-based care.

Measurement-based care is a clinical practice in which outcomes data from validated assessments are utilized systematically to guide and improve treatment decisions in real time. This allows treatment teams to have the ability to pivot when therapeutic interventions are not working and react proactively rather than reactively. This approach is collaborative and includes the involvement of the patient as a vocal participant in their care.

Assessments are collected at the time of admission, at two-week intervals, and again at discharge, giving both the patient and our team members thorough insight into how the patient has progressed.

Our team is dedicated to making sure that each person in our virtual IOP receives the focused, personalized care they need to help them find lasting recovery.
