The Connections of Florida virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a Florida-based program. While the program is held virtually, all participants must reside in the state of Florida.
Physical Location During Sessions
When a patient virtually signs on to participate in a session, they must be physically located in Florida. This means that even if their home address is in the state of Florida, they cannot be physically located in any other state while actively participating in the session.
The location of participants will be verified at the beginning of each session. Patients will be required to provide the address of their location.
If patients have traveled outside of Florida during programming hours, they will not be able to participate that day.
Why Location Is Important
The physical location of participants is important in managing safety risks. For example, if a wellness check or emergency system needs to be sent to a patient, it is necessary to have the verified location of the patient.
Confidentiality
Patients must be in a space that allows for confidentiality. They should be alone and ideally using headphones. Please note that headphones are not required if the individual is in a private space away from anyone who could potentially overhear any part of the conversation.
Patients must also be in a set location during sessions. They cannot be traveling in any capacity, whether in a car or other mode of transportation.
These guidelines are in place to ensure that all patients are benefiting from the treatment process without distraction and without placing themselves or their peers at risk for breaching confidentiality.
Visibility
Patients are required to be visible for the entire duration of group sessions. This means that they must have camera capabilities, and their cameras must remain turned on at all times.
Attendance
Patients are expected to attend all virtual IOP sessions. If they are going to be absent, it is their responsibility to report that absence. If a patient is not in attendance and has not reported their absence, a member of our staff will follow up with them.
If a patient logs off in the middle of a group or does not return after a break, there will be a point person in place who will call the patient to confirm that they are safe. If the patient cannot be reached, the point person will follow the program’s policies related to triggering a wellness check.
